Audio Foundations is passionate about music enjoyment. We are aware there are public and private establishments, schools, homes for special need individuals, ext that have no resources to acquire an audio system for decent music reproduction. For this reason, Audio Foundations purchases new and used audio equipment that we test and evaluate specifically to be donated along with system set up for helping others enjoy music who would otherwise not have the opportunity here locally in the Austin Texas area.
Audio systems come in all shapes and sizes. Our donations systems are primarily made up of component based audio systems with a separate amplifier and speakers. Speakers come in many shapes and sizes and our selection is based on several criteria including room size, placement options, type of music likely to be played and volume desired. Our most common source is the addition of a Blue Tooth receiver allowing the recipient or facilitator to play music they posses on their own smart phone. Other considerations for sources could include CD players or Turntables for playing records. Please take note we do NOT do any professional sound reinforcement, sound boards, microphones or commercial PA systems.
We take great pride in properly setting up our donated audio systems for quality music reproduction. That being said our top priority is for a simple and safe set-up of equipment requiring a quality location and foundation for the products placement. For this reason we commonly use speakers that are floor-standing, however when space does not allow for this we place speakers on solid shelfs or ledges. Again safety is a priority and if we determine a room or environment is not safe for a system donation we will not proceed. Amplifier locations must also have a solid shelf or location within reach of an AC outlet (no extension cords to reach far away outlets) Sometimes we have an audio rack or stand available to assist. Speaker wires from the amplifier to the speakers are connected but are remained exposed. Note that we do not "conceal" wires or do a custom "installation".
We remain open to any situation where a system donation will improve the lives of others through enjoyment of music. We consider any donation inquiry wether public or private however our focus is on opportunities where groups of individuals will benefit from our donation. We are very interested in supporting music rooms and music teachers in public or private schools to assist in teaching music appreciation. Homes for elderly or special needs individuals can also greatly benefit from listening to music. We do not use commercial sound re-enforcement audio so we can not outfit large venues.
We are currently limited to the Austin TX and surrounding communities. We try to remain flexible as to when we can make donations both in time of year and actual day and time of set-ups. We attempt to be available year round, and the most common set-up availability is on an early evening or a weekend day. Our current capacity and target is approximately 5 system donations and set-ups annually.
We are aware this is not a common charity and community service and you may have several questions. We also find it helpful and generally necessary to have some conversations in advance for the recipients of this charity. Feel free to email questions in advance to support@audiofoundations.com.
